Dear Friends,

Thank you for helping to make CSC’s 40th anniversary season such a tremendous success. We are thrilled to announce our 2008-2009 season, which begins in September with Tony Award winner MANDY PATINKIN starring in Shakespeare’s THE TEMPEST. This will be followed by the 2nd installment in our Chekhov Initiative, UNCLE VANYA, starring beloved Tony Award winner DENIS O’HARE, recently seen at CSC so memorably in A Spanish Play. We will close with our centerpiece of the season, the world premiere of poet ANNE CARSON’S new translations of THE ORESTEIA. This unique compilation, commissioned by CSC, brings together Aeschylus’ Agamemnon, Sophocles’ Electra, and Euripides’ Orestes to tell the immortal tale of the fall of the house of Atreus, one of Western civilization’s foundational texts. This two-evening event will bring together many of CSC’s most cherished artists.

The season also includes FIRST LOOK FESTIVAL readings of 4 Brecht plays, and our ever popular Open Rehearsal Series returns with MONDAY NIGHT OTHELLO. And for our Education & Outreach programming, our fourth annual YOUNG COMPANY will feature Shakespeare’s ROMEO AND JULIET, especially tailored for family and student audiences. We will also be inaugurating a new ADAPTATION SERIES with a set of staged readings based on Proust's Remembrance of Things Past.

For our MASTERPASS, we will now offer you FIVE FLEXIBLE TICKETS to any of our Main Productions. MASTERPASS allows you to use 5 tickets in any configuration you wish! Use three tickets for THE TEMPEST and two for UNCLE VANYA or see each of the four performances once and bring a friend to see MANDY PATINKIN in THE TEMPEST. It’s all up to you! MASTERPASS members also receive complimentary tickets to Special Series (FIRST LOOK FESTIVAL, MONDAY NIGHT OTHELLO, YOUNG COMPANY, THE PROUST PROJECT). As you may know, our Open Rehearsal presentations completely sell out almost immediately after going on sale. PREPAID MEMBERS will continue to receive 1 ticket to each performance of our Main Productions: THE TEMPEST, UNCLE VANYA, THE ORESTEIA (Part I: Agamemnon & Electra) and THE ORESTEIA (Part II: Orestes.)

The most efficient way to book your membership is on-line. Just CLICK HERE TO BOOK YOUR MEMBERSHIP! For further information, feel free to call Member Services at 212-677-4210 X11. We will do our best to return your calls as quickly as possible, but there may be a delay in responding, as we anticipate extremely high demand. Again, booking your membership online is automatic!

We are extremely grateful for your ongoing support and hope you will join us for this very special season. We look forward to seeing you all after Labor Day!

Sincerely,

Brian Kulick
