Opportunities for Students

CSC offers students in high school and college a variety of paths to explore the theater industry as young professionals. Through our NextGen Teen Leadership Program and administrative internships, students who are seriously considering a career in theater receive hands-on experience and become an essential part of our team.

NextGen: Teen Leadership in the Arts

For teens with a passion for theater, strong leadership skills, and a desire to learn all aspects of professional performing arts, CSC offers a unique opportunity to be a vital part of an acclaimed Off-Broadway company.

NextGen members are the leaders of the next generation of artists and audiences. Members participate in workshops, get to go behind-the-scenes, develop business skills, and gain insight through interaction with full-time staff and meetings with theater professionals.

For each CSC production, NextGen members plan Teen Takeover performances. Members run the box office, usher, host the post-performance discussion, and oversee all aspects of the event.

Join us at an upcoming Teen Takeover this season! Middle and high school students may use code TEEN10 for $10 tickets when booking tickets.

CSC internships offer in-depth work experience operating an off-Broadway theater, and an exciting environment for sharpening real-world skills. Interns are an integral part of the team, and participate in staff and production meetings, observe rehearsals, assist with behind-the-scenes efforts, lead specific projects, and help execute events, including galas and opening nights.

Internships are offered in three professional tracks:


Learn about curriculum and study guide development, data collection/entry for program evaluation, and observe hands-on teaching work in the schools.

Marketing & Communications

Acquire a variety of skills relating to media planning, cross-promotion, publicity, and institutional archiving.

Theater Management

Learn about business correspondence, budgets, contracts, scheduling, and planning and executing special events.

Please plan to submit applications at least 4 weeks in advance of the semester you are applying for. Applicants should send a cover letter indicating position/semester desired and resume with references to education@classicstage.org. Please place “Internship Program” in the subject line. While internships are typically reserved for college students, we have opportunities for high school students through our NextGen program.

View Important Dates and Requirements

Fall internships run September-December; spring internships run January-early May; summer internships run late May-August. Commitment is a minimum of one semester (approximately 4 months), 2 days/week, 7 hours a day.

Interns may receive college credit for their work with us, provided the institution they attend approves the appointment. We cannot offer stipends or housing, but interns are extended full staff benefits for shows and special events.
